Baha festival

  ᱥᱟ.ᱜᱩᱱ ᱵᱟᱦᱟ ᱵᱚᱸᱜᱟ 

Baha festival is the one of great festival is celebreted by santal community in every year and each and every villages. But day of celebration is not specified among them. It is vary  from phagun new moon to phagun full moon. In santali word "BAHA" mean flower. Santal people believe in natural power, so they pay worship to nature at the time of spring season, when nature is dressed with new leaves and flowers. Without paying contribution to nature santal peoples do not use new leavs and flowers in any circumstance. 


Baha is celebreted for four days. First day is called "um maha " that mean bathing day. Second day is called "sardi maha ", in this day santal peoples pay worship to their God and celebrate the day by traditional baha dance . Third day is called " sendra maha ". In this day santal peoples spread "baha dak " among each other and organizes traditional  cultural program. Village boys arrange hunting on be help of jag majhi baba. On the last day is called " jale maha ", that mean end of the festival.
"Baha-dak " is refer to water for flower, or how we spread water in flower garden like that. There are used only fress water for baha dak. Santal peoples  do no allow any colour powder like holi.
